Malangwa: The Sarlahi District Court on Monday ordered the detention of Ram Bahadur Bamjan, also known as Ram Lal Bamjan or the 'Little Buddha', in connection with a money laundering case.
A bench led by Justice Jeevan Kumar Bhandari directed that Bamjan be sent to Malangwa Jail for trial proceedings. The case against him was originally registered on February 20, 2002.
Bamjan appeared in court amid the presence of a large group of his supporters and followers gathered outside the court premises.
Previously, the Sarlahi District Court had sentenced Bamjan to ten years in prison and imposed a fine of Rs. 500,000. However, the Janakpur High Court later overturned that ruling on March 20, acquitting him of the charges and leading to his release.
The current order pertains specifically to the money laundering case, for which he has now been taken into custody again.
